DC police last week made a disturbing discovery, finding the bodies of five babies who were reportedly born alive at a Washington DC abortion clinic – spurring calls for a medical investigation into whether the children’s deaths violated federal laws.
Anti-abortion activist Lauren Handy, director of activism for the Progressive Anti-Abortion Uprising (PAAU), handed over to the police five partially-birthed aborted babies’ bodies.
“People will freak out when they hear,” Handy told reporters at the scene.
Handy said she received the dead babies from a whistleblower connected to the Washington Surgi-Clinic, an abortion center.
According to PAAU, the babies’ “late gestational ages, as well as their apparent sustained injuries potentially, show violations of the Partial-Birth Abortion Act as well as the Born Alive Infants Protection Act which are federal crimes.”
Shockingly, DC police have made no arrests in relation to this discovery and executive assistant DC Police Chief Ashan Benedict claimed that these babies were aborted “in accordance with DC law.”
Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) was one of the voices to express outrage, saying, “The slaughter of innocent children is of course the logical endpoint to the left’s culture of death, in which women are warmly encouraged to kill the babies they ought to be nurturing and then brag about it afterwards.”
“Since baby-killing activists are now brazen enough to advocate for infanticide, it is right to ask whether these infants were victim of this new and bloodthirsty zeal for the deaths of innocents,” she said.
“What we need now is a full forensic examination to determine precisely how, why and when these blameless babies died, then the police must open a murder investigation if the bodies are found to have air, or preservative solution in the lungs. We need to hold the doctors concerned accountable.”
According to LifeNews, the clinic in question has a history of performing abortions late into the second trimester, when a fetus is generally considered to be viable.
The Washington Surgi-Clinic “advertises abortions up to 27 weeks of pregnancy, and turned them over to police. The facility’s late-term abortionist Cesare Santangelo has been caught on video stating that he would not intervene to save a baby who survived an abortion. Washington, D.C. has no gestational limits on abortion,” reports LifeNews.
A medical expert specializing in infants consulted by Live Action News said the babies could indeed have lived had they been properly cared for.
“I can say with confidence that these babies died at an age when they were viable, premature people,” said Neonatologist Dr. Robin Pierucci.
