‘We’re Hiring!’ Indiana Seeks to Hire Chicago’s Officer Who Refuse Vaccine Mandate

Indiana leaders have responded to Chicago’s police officer vaccine mandate in a surprising new way, saying, “We’re hiring.”

A Fox 32 Chicago news update shows Indiana officials are seeking to recruits some of those who have refused to comply with Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot’s COVID-19 vaccine mandate.

Rather than give up on their call to protect and serve, Hoosiers are putting out the call to move across the state line and become part of the team. The “back the blue” attitude has had mixed reactions from the public, but some Chicago officers are seriously considering the offer.

“Law enforcement leaders and elected officials are hoping Chicago officers will flock to the state at a time when recruiting is down,” the Fox report noted.

“If you’re looking to stay in law enforcement, this is an option for you,” Indiana State Police Sgt. Field said in the report.

Indiana Sen. Mike Braun also said he supports the outreach to Chicago’s officers. While Indiana State Police officers generally make less than those in more affluent Chicago, the state’s lower taxes and more supportive police climate could be enough to make the switch.

The state may be on the right track. With nationwide trends of Americans moving from high-restriction states to those with more freedom, Indiana can expect at least some success in reaching out to those frustrated with the situation in Chicago.
